Since its opening in 1981, Changi Airport has won innumerable awards. 12 times it was named world's best airport, in 2024 is was the fourth-busiest international airport in terms of airline seat capacity and it serves over 100 airlines. Did you know that Changi Airport was named after a heritage tree?
The airport is constantly growing and upgrading to welcome the growing number of travellers and in October 2019 the Jewel officially opened, a new iconic addition offering attractions to passengers and the general public alike.
During our tour we will learn about the history of Changi Airport, the making of the Jewel and about the architect behind this project, Mr. Moshe Safdie. Our guide will share with us how an open air carpark in front of T1 was transformed into a new retail complex of 5 levels above ground and 5 levels below, combining commerce and nature, integrating greenery, attractions and facilities.
As we make our way up to the rooftop we will see the Rain Vortex, at 40m high the world's tallest indoor waterfall, and the Team Lab Resonating Shiseido Forest, home to over 2,000 species of trees and plants. We will continue to the Canopy Park located on level 5 where we can experience Discovery Slides, Foggy Bowls, the Petal Garden and Topiary Walk and we will enjoy the best view point of the Rain Vortex display.
